Et al. Gallery welcomes Esther Allen as she presents her translation of The Suicides (NYRB Classics 2025), which comes on the heels of the NYRB Classics publication of The Silentiary (2022) and Zama (2016), rounding out Antonio Di Benedetto’s unofficial trilogy.
Linked thematically to Zama (set during the eighteenth century) and The Silentiary (set during the 1950s), The Suicides takes place in a provincial city in the late 1960s, as Argentina plummets toward the “Dirty War.”
The poet, translator, and novelist Forrest Gander will join her in conversation. This in-person event is free to attend.
